The crew was professional, courteous, and treated my property with great care. I also appreciated how respectful they were of my neighbors’ property, making sure everything was cleaned up and left in great shape.

Authority to check

City of Cumming Planning & Zoning for incorporated city limits; Forsyth County Planning and Community Development for unincorporated properties.

Forsyth County states that homeowners removing trees outside required zoning buffers are exempt from the County Tree Ordinance. That county exemption does not establish an exemption for a property inside the incorporated City of Cumming, where the exact residential rule should be confirmed with City Planning & Zoning.

Boundary check: Cumming postal addresses can be inside the incorporated City of Cumming or in unincorporated Forsyth County. Confirm the governing boundary first.

Special circumstances to confirm

  • For an address inside Cumming city limits, contact City Planning & Zoning before relying on the Forsyth County homeowner exemption.
  • Buffers, development, land disturbance, timber harvesting and protected areas may trigger separate review.

Official sources and next steps

Dying River Birch Removal — Marietta, GA

This dying river birch was growing into the light pole and leaning toward the neighbor's yard. We climbed it and took it down in sections, planning the work around the light pole, surrounding trees and neighboring property.

Maple Removal Near Fence — Roswell, GA

This maple was growing over the neighbor's fence and creating a concern for the neighboring property. It was a very tight spot, with the fence on one side and other trees all around. Our climber pieced it down branch by branch with the work planned around the fence.
